Discover the Joy of Learning at BethlehemIt is our belief that children learn best in an environment that is rich with a variety of literature, hands-on materials and a socially active atmosphere. When the environment is designed for children, discipline problems rarely occur. This enables us to focus completely upon the development of your child.
We begin each morning with a group time. During this time we discuss a variety of topics based on a theme. The children learn and internalize this knowledge through literature, songs, storytelling, interactive word stories and poems. Following circle time, the environment is prepared with a variety of activities that compliment the theme. The activities are provided to encourage growth in all areas of development (socially, physically, cognitively, creatively and literacy). The later part of the morning is designated to the Core Knowledge Curriculum. This involves a short group time with teacher-directed activities to follow. We end our morning with a large group gathering and the “Special Person” leads us in prayer. We believe your child’s first learning experiences should be fun and interactive. Learning builds pride and confidence. The world is a wondrous place and there is joy in learning about it at Bethlehem! Curiosity, an open mind, the challenge to find out and the reward of knowledge begin in early childhood! |

READINGTeaching children to read with the Core Knowledge Language Arts curriculum allows young learners to feel successful as they acquire the necessary phonemic awareness and phonics skills of confident emergent readers. Core Knowledge is an explicit and systematic program.

WRITINGWriting can be a difficult task for early learners. The Core Knowledge Language Arts curriculum addresses this problem by teaching a proper grip at the onset. Once children feel comfortable grasping the writing tool they are able to focus on their own thought processes more readily.

ARITHMETICIt's all about manipulatives in t/kindergarten! Your child will spend time working with many types of manipulatives from pattern blocks to unifix cubes. By using counters your child will learn to add and subtract. Your child will also be introduced to number writing.
