About our School Board

Purpose
Bethlehem Children’s Center is a part of the Christian education program of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Santa Rosa, California. The purpose of this center is to provide an outreach to the community, providing child care and educational services within a loving Christian atmosphere in which each child can grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Our hope is to develop within each child a loving respect for one another and for the wonders of God’s world.

School Board
The school board shall consist of seven (7) voting members. The school board president and at least four out of the seven members of the school board shall be members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. These seven members will include:
The Sunday school superintendent or another education commission member elected by the church council.
Whenever possible, the parents should be parents with children enrolled in the Children’s Center.
The school board members will be elected to the school board for a term of two (2) years. The seven members shall be elected to their terms by the congregation after their nomination by the church nominating committee. Two members shall be elected each year, with no member serving more than two consecutive terms. Vacancies on the school board shall be filled by the church council as they occur. The senior pastor and the director of the Children’s Center will serve as non-voting members.
The school board officers shall be elected annually by the BCC school board at its first meeting after the annual congregational election. The terms of the officers shall be for one year. The officers of the school board are: president, vice-president, secretary.

- An at-large congregational member elected in even-numbered years.

8/3/20 Update from Bethlehem Children's Center School Board in response to COVID-19
While the Children's Center was hoping to reopen on August 11th the BCC School Board made the difficult decision to postpone the reopening until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The policies implemented June 16, 2020 by the BCC School Board will remain in effect upon reopening.
